Born in 1942 of immigrant Hungarian parents, Calvin Klein graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York aged 20. In 1968, Calvin, along with longtime friend Barry Shwartz opened their first apparel company. Calvin Klein became a household name in the 1970's and 80's following his hugely popular Calvin Klein jeans and Calvin Klein underwear lines, as well as their controversial advertising campaigns. His first big success with fragrances was Calvin Klein Obsession in 1985, followed by Calvin Klein Eternity in 1989 and Calvin Klein Escape in 1991.
