Benetton was established as a clothing brand in Italy in 1965, however the success story began back in 1955, when Luciano Benetton was only 20 years old. He realised that people wanted colours in their lives, and especially in their clothes. He sold a younger brother's bicycle in order to buy a second hand knitting machine, and began to market a small collection of sweaters to local stores. The positive reaction to his designs was only the beginning of a solid start and it was in 1965 that the Benettons opened their first store. Benetton fragrances were introduced in 1987 with the United Colors of Benetton brand. Current lines include Hot, Cold, Sport, Tribu and more recently Jeans perfume.
